Guyra Horticultural Centre:
Winner of the Resource Efficiency Open Price Category

Buildplan were engaged late 2004 as the managing contractor for the design, planning, construction and commissioning of the $60 million dollar Guyra Horticultural facility. Built in the high sunlight, high altitude environment of Guyra in the New England Region, this 20 hectare glass house is the largest enclosed horticultural facility in Australia.

The facility incorporates the latest European technology including a complete computer controlled environment via heating, automated roof vent operation, air conditioned via fogging systems, night insulation and sunlight control via automatic screens, automatic roof washing and chalking systems. The facility also includes a 75 mega litre lined clean water reservoir providing sufficient storage for the collection of all rainwater from the glazed areas. The 2009 MBA Award for Resource Efficiency recognised Buildplan’s achievements in delivering this environmentally responsible large scale project.
