National Marine Science Centre

The National Marine Science Centre entailed additions and renovations to an existing gymnasium and conference centre to provide a modern marine teaching and research centre of approximately 3,400m2.

The works involved delivery of complex service engineering to supply mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and vertical transportation services to the new centre over 4 levels.

Research facilities included full laboratory fit out including a reticulated fresh sea water delivery system, lecture theatres, teaching facilities, reception, offices and administration areas.

As a significant redevelopment project there were constant issues encountered with the existing structure and services. A proactive and co operative approach to minimising the impact of these issues on the project enabled the construction program to be met.

Buildplan has been commended by the project team on the quality of the project and the commitment to having the project completed to enable commencement of lectures in the initial term of the year.
